San Francisco: Senegalise Cuisine at Oaland's Bissap Baobab
Bonjour, na nga def Gastronauts!
This month our appetites will be journeying to Senegal for a taste of Senegalese cuisine. As a former colony of France and an historically vital trading port (its capital of Dakar being situated on the Western edge of Africa), Senegal attracted a variety of cultural influence from Europe, Asia, and other parts of Africa. These influences are well reflected by its myriad languages and eclectic cusine.
Our upcoming dinner will be at Bissap Baobab in Oakland. Our gracious host Marco has helped curate some flavorful dishes and fresh squeezed juice cocktails for the Gastronauts to enjoy. Marco has a wonderful story that he shared with us about his journey immigrating to the United States and how important it is to build and cultivate a sense of community to bring people together. He is a talented chef and continues to give back by building a school for young women in his Senegalese hometown.
So join us on Sunday, December 21 at 7pm at Bissap Baobab in Oakland. Happy Holidays Gastronauts!
