"Live" Octopus at Sik Gaek

Anyong, Nauts!

This month is our 8th anniversary, folks, and instead of bronze, or linens and lace, we’re serving up eight-legged creatures, the king of the eights: the Octopus. Happy anniversary, baby! It’s feel so good time, again! (see below)

This month we’re heading back to a favorite haunt of ours, a Korean joint named Sik Gaek in Woodside, to have us some live wiggly octopi, sea cucumbers, sea squirts and welks, abalone, urchin, clams, and shells. So, grab your incense and santaria moonshine, your kimchee-scented candles and your finest 8-year old whiskey — we’re celebrating 8 years of Gastronauts in style, with our favorite aquatic Armageddon in the land where baby octopi dance … and then you eat them..

It’s going to be awesome, trust us. Go ahead, look up what deliciousness we had last time we were there or you could just toss Sik Gaeks website into Google translate and see it in their own words:

“Mother’s steadfast love and forever ready to serve you. Korean immigrant scrounger you tired of the earth be hard to give the best service and well-being appetizing food in a relaxed atmosphere by giving today, tomorrow and the agony of thought and send a smile will always try to want to create a space. Nitto parasite staff.”

We’re going to ask Google translate to write our birthday speech.

So, dust off that party dress and bring that secret bottle of moonshine you’ve been waiting for an excuse to open. ‘Cause there will be lots of Ba-Da-Wai-Sa, there will be loud Korean pop music, and, yeah, there will be blood…
