A Mount Royal Chevaline Dinner
Giddyup, Gastronauts!
While you’ve been warming your shut-in selves by the soft glow of your light-therapy lamps—and scrolling your phones, looking up creative synonyms for “freezing”: We went north—TWICE. This time we came back with a rack of Cote de Bronco, as they don’t say. Need more, the chef said, so we got more.
So yea, we went far north. During a snowstorm. Yes, THE snow storm. To Montreal. Because it’s our 20th anniversary year and we’re not celebrating with an effing cake and a speech.
We braved broken-down cars, icy streets, and the kind of weather that makes locals say “Putain, il fait super froid.” All to acquire this month’s very special dinner ingredient for you.
And, we can’t tell you what it is.
And, we can’t tell you where you’re eating it.
Come on, the border guards barely let us pass with it. (“Sir, please pull over so we can inspect your vehicle for agricultural goods.”) But we had the paperwork. We came prepared.
What we can tell you is this:
You’re going to want it.
You’re not going to want to miss this.
And once it’s over, your friends are going to wish you’d invited them.
But you know what they say—you can lead them to water, but you can’t make them drink. You can yell at them about it… but you’ll just end up a little hoarse.
(Ok, sorry, but we had to be clear for the slower ones.) Yeah, it’s that kind of dinner.
So Giddyup, Gastronauts. Bundle up and sign up. You don’t want to miss this one.
