The Mad Vietnamese Menu: A Text Thread
Fred: How about the Gastronauts come to my restaurant in Ridgewood for a Vietnamese dinner?
Curtiss: That sounds great. What do you want to cook?
Fred: Listen. I have this idea… this won’t be just any Vietnamese dinner. What if it were a next-level, mind-blowing, once-in-a-lifetime Vietnamese fusion madness?
Curtiss: Ok, but define madness…
Fred: Kangaroo congee.
Curtiss: Excuse me?
Fred: Kangaroo congee. And elk stew. Elk stew with white fungus mushrooms.
Curtiss: Fred. What the…?
Fred: And Jalapeño cucumber glass noodles topped with spicy cricket spring rolls..
Curtiss: Umm…Fred…?
Fred: …Yak goose wontons.
Curtiss: Now you’re just saying random animals.
Fred: Think of it as Vietnamese flavors colliding with the world’s most unexpected proteins. The textures, the spice, the drama of it all.
Curtiss: Did you just call it drama?
Fred: And, Tomato glass noodles with jalapeño cucumber and crickets.
Curtiss: That’s not an answer.
Fred: Look, let’s to this. I’ve got kangaroo. You want kangaroo.
Curtiss:… I feel like I should be stopping you, but also, I kinda want to eat this now.
Fred: Let’s do this then?
Curtiss: …Ok. It’ll be Monday the 24th. 7pm. How many can your place hold?
Fred: 30. Ok, only 27, but it’ll be fun.
Curtiss: Hell yeah!
